Max Blumenthal goes to a convention of kiddie right wingers and comes back with an amazing video.
In conversations with at least twenty College Republicans about the war in Iraq, I listened as they lip-synched discredited cant about “fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here.” Many of the young GOP cadres I met described the so-called “war on terror” as nothing less than the cause of their time.
Blumenthal then asks a simple question to each of these blustering neo neocons: given their strong patriotic feelings, why aren't they themselves fighting in Iraq? The hemming and hawing would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic, and Iraqis and Americans weren't dying over there every day.
The seven minute piece on this new generation of Chickenhawks is worth watching in itself -- but buried among the video is one muy wacky and surreal scene showing Tom Delay speaking to the fresh-scrubbed kiddie Republican faithful. In a tortured bit of logic the ex-Congressman from Texas somehow ties pro-choice support of abortion to today's illegal immigration problem:
"I contend [abortion] affects you in immigration. If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn’t need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. Think about it.”
I have thought about it. And he's an idiot.
De Lay is worse than a moron, he's a dangerous moron with a fan base.
